While traveling in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam, try the home-grown tastes such as spring rolls and Pho, and visit some of the local restaurants for a true taste of Vietnam

In Thai Nguyen, like most of Vietnam, you can find food everywhere. At night, the streets literally become one long restaurant. Contrary to Western tastes, the Vietnamese care less about the décor of a restaurant than the taste of its food. That’s why some of the rattiest looking places will be packed full of people.

If you’re interested in trying some local street food, use the old rule of thumb, if a place is full of people, food will be fresh and tasty.

Anyone visiting Thai Nguyen must try the local speciality, Pho Nhung. This delicious meal, a soup–noodle combo, is served fresh in many street restaurants along Phu Cho Street. Pho Nhung consists of a bowl of minced pork soup broth served with plates of thick fresh rice noodles, bean sprouts, various leafy vegetables and peppers and chicken if you wish. More of an evening meal, Pho Nhung is generally more popular after seven at night.
